In which a fake ex-Illuminati programmer makes up some weird shit about cult programming

Hey folks! Have you heard terms like "jewel programming," "metal programming," or "color programming"? Did you hear about an evil cult that intentionally induces dissociative identity disorder in people in order to control them? Did you know that all of this traces back to woman who claimed to be a former member of a global Satanic conspiracy, whose story followed the template laid out by known frauds like Mike Warnke and whose claims about the Illuminati are just repackaged antisemitism?

Over here I discussed the first three chapters in an e-book that supposedly details the activities and methods of this cult. Now I'm moving on to chapter four, where she describes the supposed methods the Illuminati uses to begin the programming process.

Svali's obsession with the idea of early training gets even weirder. Now she's claiming that the Illuminati gives DID to unborn babies in the 7th-9th month of pregnancy:

Techniques used include: placing headphones on the mother's abdomen, and playing loud, discordant music (such as some modern classical pieces, or even Wagner's operas). Loud, heavy rock has also been used. Other methods include having the mother ingest quantities of bitter substances, to make the amniotic fluid bitter, or yelling at the fetus inside the womb. The mother's abdomen may be hit as well. Mild shock to the abdomen may be applied, especially when term is near, and may be used to cause premature labor, or ensure that the infant is born on a ceremonial holiday.

She claims that trainers look for signs of dissociative ability in newborn babies, and will subject the infant to various abuses to induce fragmentation. And like... y'know, maybe the kinds of abuses she describes might induce dissociation and DID, but let's be real - these are not guaranteed results. However, the kinds of abuses she describes would certainly give a lot of kids issues so severe that you have to ask yourself how the hell it could possibly be worth it.

But the thing is, Svali's comprehension of trauma and DID are cartoonishly pseudoscientific. She essentially sees them as a brutal, yet efficient means to an end. Because alters don't always share memories, then this is clearly a perfect means for a global satanic cult to keep itself hidden. There's simply no awareness of other trauma-related disorders or common co-morbidities with DID. The fact that severe trauma tends to damage's a child's ability to learn skills and retain information, and therefore undermines her claim that all these kids are groomed into various forms of hypercompetence, doesn't seem to occur to her.

For Svali, DID appears to be a plot device, nothing more.

In chapter five, Svali begins to describe color, metal, and jewel programming. Supposedly, colors are associated with different alters, while metals and gems are awarded upon certain achievements - for example:

Emerald will often come later (ages 12 to 15). This is considered very precious, and is linked to family loyalty, witchcraft, and spiritual achievement. Emeralds will often have a black cat, or "familiar" linked to them.

In chapter five, Svali claims that the Illuminati also uses brain wave programming, which entails "having a young child go into a deep trance state, where they then learn to dissociate into a certain brain wave pattern." Supposedly, trainers give children hypnotic drugs and monitor their brainwaves. This only makes sense if you, like Svali, think that DID is the perfect cover for a global satanic conspiracy. Otherwise, it looks like a bunch of overcomplicated nonsense in a quest for questionable results.

Different brainwave states (alpha, beta, gamma, delta, epsilon, and phi/theta/omega) are associated with different skills/behaviors, which are mostly unrelated to what we actually know about brainwaves. For example, Svali claims that:

Delta: this is one of the more cognitive brain wave states, and will often be highly dissociated. It may also be the "ruling" or controlling state over the other brain wave systems.

In reality, delta waves are associated with deep sleep - the exact opposite of "cognitive."

In chapter seven, she claims that children undergo "military programming" from age three, and are gradually taught to kill actual people. And in this chapter, we can see another problem with Svali's claims emerge - she describes an Illuminati that is fatally self-defeating:

Exercises for older youth will include games where groups compete against each other, and the older teen leads, with the help of an adult advisor. Groups that win are rewarded, groups that lose are punished. The youth are taught to leave behind the weak, or slow members. Unfit members are shot or killed, and the youth leader learns to do these tasks.

Meanwhile, the actual military does not work like this, because this is a really fucking bad way to operate. You know what does work this way, though? Shitty fiction written by edgelords.

In chapter eight, Svali claims that some children are given CIA programming, where they basically learn spy shit, and all that photographic memory stuff. (Reminder that there is no evidence that photographic memory is even real, much less that it can be trained through the kinds of abusive methods Svali describes.)

And here we can see that Svali gets at least some of her ideas of what spies do from pop fiction:

An older youth, or adult, will also be taught not only how to lure a target into bed, but later how to kill them, if they are an assassination target, while they are asleep or relaxing after sexual relations.

And then it gets even weirder with:

Often, before an assignment for an assassination, the cult member will be indoctrinated with reasons why killing the victim is a service to humanity. They will be lied to and told that they are the head of a porno ring, a pedophile, or a brutal villain. This will engage the assassin's natural anger towards the person, and will motivate them, while helping to overcome their natural moral reluctance and guilt at killing a human being.

But... wait, Svali, aren't you contradicting yourself? Didn't you just claim that the Illuminati was pro-all-of-that shit? Didn't you claim that CSEM was "big business" in the Illuminati? Haven't you been claiming that brutality is just normal training methods here? Why would someone programmed to see these things as normal and good have a reaction like this?

And then she claims that there's governmental programming, where people are trained to get into government for the purpose of overthrowing it. She claims that they infiltrate and subvert both local and national government, and support whoever's sympathetic to the Illuminati.

Next she claims that there's scholarship programming, where children are taught ancient history, languages, and all the stuff a scary world dominating satanic cult would want to learn about, I guess.

With that done, I think this is a good time to end the post. In the next chapter, Svali's going to start talking about the alleged satanic purposes of one of Evangelical Christendom's favorite boogeymen: Hollywood movies.

Gallium oxide crystal complexity tamed by machine learning

Researchers at the University of Liverpool, the University of Bristol, University College London (UCL), and Diamond Light Source have developed new understanding of gallium oxide by combining a machine-learning theoretical approach with experimental results.

In a paper published in the journal Advanced Materials, researchers used a combination of theoretical approaches and machine learning techniques to identify the key characteristics of gallium oxide, a material that has promising applications in power electronics and solar-blind photodetectors.

Gallium oxide presents a particular challenge across synthesis, characterization, and theory due to its inherent disorder and resulting complex structure—electronic structure relationship.

It has five different phases or crystal structures, known as alpha, beta, gamma, delta and epsilon. The gamma phase was first suspected to exist in 1939, but it remained largely elusive until 2013 when more details of its structure were found using neutron diffraction. It has four inequivalent gallium lattice sites that are partially occupied in an inherently disordered structure, so that in spite of its deceptively simple cubic symmetry, it is in fact immensely complex. The enormous number of possible crystal structures makes conventional theoretical approaches impossible.

Wooyoung- Zeta

OH?! How could I forget that Wooyoung too is a part of the 'i have too much work to find a mate' category along with Taecyeon and Jun...

Wooyoung is the Zeta wolf or war general. The Zeta wolves are entrusted to plan out the war strategies and trainning of the pack with Delta wolves and the omegas who join in. Along with that they always keep a guard at the territories along with Alpha and because of the continuous training and warfare practices, they are quiet aggressive after the Alpha in nature.

So, all the wolves in lower ranks try best to not get on their aggressive side.. This might have also raised a question that if they are aggressive, then what about their mates? Nope, they aren't agressive but like wrapped around the pinky finger of their mates as much as they wanna deny this but they are too soft.

Wooyoung met his mate at the University where he was a TA and student studying ancient military warfare (See his dedication as a war general) while she was a clinical psychology student. So, how did you two meet or should I say he found you out? Let's just say that both of your proffessors played the roles of cupid.

Since, psychology also talks and discusses about various practices people did in ancient times when people had little to no knowledge about psychological disorders especially when it came to general folks or when how to confront soldiers who witnessed mass killings or massacre and Military warfare spoke of various strategies, techniques and some recounts of emotional experiences the proffessors thought this would be a great idea to do a research project on it and guess what, you two were paired together.

Things were okay between both you as you didn't like to talk that much unless you are close with people while him didn't speak at all except for what all parts to do and how,ie, related to work. So, yeah you didn't give much a thought because you have known and seen people with similar personality of his and more reserved ones.. but this changed one day...

After, the project got over, both of you parted ways and thanked the other and whenever saw each other would just acknowledge presence or maybe ask about the day but one day what happened was that you really didn't had a good day and when you saw him looking at you, you just ran away to field.

Wooyoung rushed to your side even though he didn't knew but he felt that he needed to be next to you because the field wasn't particularly safe when it's about evening time. He saw your small crouched figure while you gently sobbed breaking his heart.

Wooyoung:- Y-Y/N? Y-you okay?

Y/N:- Nah, it's okay. J-just th-thin-things d-didn't go m-my way... Yo-

(He hugged your crouched figure and pressed your head against his chest)

Wooyoung:- It's okay to let out you know.. I know that you don't like to show your emotions especially your vulnerable side to others. It's okay, you are safe with me.

(He doesn't know from where did this come from or what will happen now but you didn't care at the moment, for the first time you saw someone to just let you be you in your emotions which made you hug him more tightly.. )

Y/N:- Thank you, you don't know how much that means to me..

Wooyoung:- It's okay love. I am here for you now and always...

This led to far from the old aye mates to something new relationship...

Junho- Delta

Delta wolves are third in command with Alpha, Beta and Zeta wolves. Their main work is to maintain the pack and train up the pack members when Zeta and Alpha aren't there.

Delta are also made to keep in touch with other alliances and notice the strange activities of the rival packs or creatures. They too like Epsilons are calm and care free personality type wolves but don't think they are weak, they are pretty dangerous especially when they are too calm to give a reaction.

Junho met his mate 'accidentally' when he was travelling to other city for a meet of the company and wolf alliance as well. During this he stopped at a nearby book store cafe where not books are available for borrowing or purchasing but snacks and beverages are too served. He was looking for a book when he heard a soft voice.

Y/N:- Excuse me sir, do you need some help ?

(both you and him were mesmerised by each other's presence and lost in a small staring contest before you composed yourself again)

Chansung- Eta

Eta wolves are the ones who are doctors of the pack and they have the we know it all experience, knowledge and various not so seen and heard tools as well. Sometimes, it feels as if the Etas aren't wolves but some magical creatures because of their knowledge, strong sense of smell and sharp fine motor skills.

Chansung was the youngest one among the rest of his members in pack but highly knowledgeable as if he is doing this for ages that could be remembered and in human form too he was a doctor.

Being in the youngest in pack, he didn't give much a thought about mates though he had heard about how much others were after Taecyeon and Jun to start searching for their mates and sometimes he used to think how and when will he meet, what scenario etc.

But nothing could be compared when he met his mate in his hospital at the department where he never went at first, soon after the visits turned more often.

His mate worked in the Paediatrics as an assistant to the doctor and was incharge of the daycare facility available.

Her laugh and smile had caught his attention because of which he used to come and see her from afar as he was shy and heart was accelerating.

One day, while he went to the department, he didn't saw her and rather someone else was in position of yours making him really sad and upset. He was about to return when a voice stopped him, making his heart go frantic and eyes widened.

Epsilon-Delta – Music for Recurring Decimals (433 Records) https://433records.bandcamp.com/album/music-for-recurring-decimals Lovely collection of short, poetic synth sequences build on simple mathematical algorithms by Hong Kong mathematician Addy Choi working under the Epsilon-Delta alias. Algorithms are based on decimal fractions like 4/7, 7/9 or 3/11, using the resulting digits as the basis for the sequence. Far from being arid or too cerebral, the tracks are poetic and varied thanks to the beautiful MIDI synth sounds chosen by the programmer, who is also a clever musician apparently. Tracks may be repetitive but the album isn't. This is textbook Systems Music as practiced in the U.K. during the 1980s by the likes of The Dead Goldfish Ensemble or The Lost Jockey. Exquisite album.

Dino Felipe – The Gardeners (self release) https://dino-felipe.bandcamp.com/album/the-gardeners Mini-LP of 16 very short tracks by Miami-based electronic musician with previous full length releases on ¡Mayday! and Schematic. The music on The Gardeners is based on samples, sound collages, occasional beats and various sound treatments like speed modification, sound stretching, accumulation, heavy reverb, or else. Felipe thus creates colorful and humorous vignettes based on ethnic music snippets, found vocals, musique concrète or cheap electronic sounds. Glitch-y textures abound, as well as grotesque sounds and weird juxtapositions, the music being deliciously direction-less and erratic.

Shane Cooper – Happenstance (Kit Records) https://kitrecs.bandcamp.com/album/happenstance Gorgeous ambient, ethnic and experimental jazz music by South African double bass player and multi-instrumentalist Shane Cooper. The album is actually constructed as a collage of short excerpts from sessions recorded with Johannesburg guest musicians in 2020. The whole project was commissioned by contemporary artist William Kentridge's The Centre for the Less Good Idea, an artist run facility he founded in Johannesburg to promote local independent art projects. Cooper obviously selected the interesting and relevant parts from two days' worth of collective improvisations and the 2 side-long tracks of Happenstance are bursting with ideas and surprises. The 1st side is rather varied in instrumentation, including superb piano and cello parts, lush Rhodes electric keyboard notes and incredible South African traditional instruments played by Cara Stacey. The music is moody and adventurous, jumping gracefully all over the place. The flip side is more about exploring rhythm textures and deep bass sounds and features Shane Cooper on double bass along 3 percussionists. The collage technique is applied here as well, producing pleasant mood changes and exciting U-turns. Cooper delivers a variety of sounds on his instrument, from walking bass lines to long-held notes played with arco (briefly played backward at some point), and also performs beautiful electric bass guitar parts with reverb. The non-linearity and unpredictability of the collage strategy used in Happenstance ensures the music is keeping away from jazz music's clichés and each new listen is surprising and interesting. Two more episodes were recorded during these sessions and are available on YouTube and other platforms, like the vocal only piece called 'Tongues'.

RhaD – Metamusic (Unexplained Sounds Group) https://unexplainedsoundsgroup.bandcamp.com/album/metamusic Standing for Research for Historical Audio Documents, RhaD is a musical project by Italian music activist Raffaele Pezzella, also known as electronic music producer Sonologyst, as well as Unexplained Sounds Group label director and publisher, not to mention radio host and sound researcher, among others. Metamusic is a 40mn sound collage of mysterious radio transmissions, found vocals, spoken words, vintage electronic sounds and a number of guest stars on classical music instruments like organ, guitar, bass or piano – respectively Michael Bonaventure, Stefan Schmidt, Daniel Barbiero, Francesco Arrighi and Mara Lepore. Adroitly avoiding any ca 2021 digital artifact along the way, Metamusic's sound design is bringing the listener back to the glorious 1960s and '70s, yet the music sounds rather timeless to these ears. Metamusic recreates the sound of early European avantgarde with plenty of tape manipulations, sound collages, buzzing sounds, French spoken word and contemporary classical music instruments. The sound crafting is superb, the collage technique creating an ever-changing musical soundscape full of weird sounds, grotesque sound manipulations and Surrealist juxtapositions. What's not to love?

Angel Bat Dawid – Hush Harbor Mixtape Vol. 1 Doxology (International Anthem) https://intlanthem.bandcamp.com/album/hush-harbor-mixtape-vol-1-doxology Very personal and original album by Angel Bat Dawid, a US clarinet player, singer, electronic musician and DJ from Chicago. Created with a few sounds and a minimum of means, devoid of spectacular solo outing, these mostly desolate tracks form a meditative musical travelogue through the Black people psyche. Track titles deal with themes of slavery, racism, and Black culture tropes, though neither the occasional lyrics nor the strange music on offer here can pass for angry or vindicatory, the music being far too personal for that. The clarinet confers a neo-classical atmosphere to some of the tracks, sometimes interestingly contrasted with synthesizer sounds or electronic beats. Harmonica and vocals on Autotune also contribute to the unique sound signature of this album, with occasional hints at gospel and rural blues. Playing in continuous mode in a kind of stream-of-consciousness style, the music would work just fine as a soundtrack to a Kara Walker exhibition—Bat Dawid actually composed the soundtrack to a Yoko Ono outdoor installation in 2020. On a side note, she also released the Harkening Etudes mini album on Longform Editions earlier in April 2021, where her classically-trained clarinet playing is contrasted with sampled piano accompaniment and electronically processed vocals in a series of short, bizarre classical music études, also worth checking out.

Ron Nagorcka – Lovregana - Music From A Tasmanian Forest (Invisibilia) https://invisibilia.bandcamp.com/album/lovregana-music-from-a-tasmanian-forest-1990-soundscapes-from-wilderness-1988 This CD reissue combines 2 cassette tapes of manipulated field recordings by Australian composer Ron Nagorcka, born 1948, namely 'Lovregana - Music from a Tasmanian Forest', 1990, and 'Soundscapes from Wilderness', from 1988. Both are based on bird recordings from northern Tasmania island, where Nagorcka relocated in 1988, building himself a house and makeshift, solar-powered recording studio deep in the primeval forest. On Lovregana, short samples of bird songs are run through a sampler and harmonized in just intonation, producing eerie soundscapes of disembodied and supernatural bird singing. The music is reconstructing a fictional and artificial forest populated by dozens of birds, some far in the distance, some near ; some slowly developing a song, others performing in sudden bursts, with a variety and unpredictability akin to actual birds in nature. To this, Nagorcka adds minimal electronic loops in the background, dreamy synthesizer notes in strange tunings and discreet didgeridoo playing, all very well integrated to the sampled bird songs. These tracks are thus poetical evocations of a primeval forest via electronic sounds. While Lovregana's tracks more or less focused on one specific bird song at a time, the two tracks of 'Soundscapes from Wilderness' take a more holistic approach to nature recordings. The 1st track, 'Black Forest, Victoria', is a reconstruction of the deep forest sounds via the accumulation of various field recordings, creating a particularly dense soundscape through layers and layers of nature recordings. Here again, the natural-vs-artificial dichotomy is what interests the composer, and arguably this forest never existed, it was rather reconstructed in the studio. The 2nd track, 'Rainforest in Northern Tasmania', uses forest sounds as the basis for slow, mysterious didgeridoo improvisations, perhaps examining how the musician can dialog with the environment, being a part of it, being one with it. The superb didjeridoo playing is what fascinates most here. . . .

China's first anti-COVID-19 drug expected to be launched soon

--An analysis of Brii Biosciences' BRII-196 and BRII-198 neutralizing antibody combination therapy

On 25 August 2021, Brii Biosciences, a multinational start-up pharmaceutical company that has been working on an anti-COVID-19 neutralizing antibody since the outbreak of Coronavirus Pandemic (COVID-19), announced that among 837 outpatients at high risk of disease progression for COVID-19 outpatients, hospitalisation and mortality were reduced by 78% in the trial group compared to the placebo group. There were 12 hospitalisations in the trial group compared to 45 in the placebo group, and one death in the trial group compared to nine in the placebo group. This was funded by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the data were statistically significant. Also, there were no serious drug-related adverse events or deaths in the clinical trial, and no serious infusion reactions.

In the face of the viral variants, data from in vitro chimeric virus trials indicates that the BRII-196/BRII-198 combination therapy maintains neutralising activity against COVID-19, including B.1.1.7 ("Alpha"), B.1.351 ( "Beta"), P.1 ("Gamma"), B.1.429 ("Epsilon",), B.1. 617.2 ("Delta") and C.37 ("Lambda"), it was unclear at press time whether the combination therapy was effective against the latest variant B.1.1.529 (" Omicron", Omicron) with the same good therapeutic effect.

“We are delighted with the positive results of this important global trial," said Dr. Hong Zhi, CEO of. Brii Biosciences. “As we continue to study this novel virus and build our knowledge of it, Brii Biosciences is committed to advancing the global standard of care for the benefit of patients at all stages of the disease and those affected by the COVID-19 virus variant. We look forward to completing the analysis of the full dataset and sharing the results of this large global trial." Teresa H. Evering, MD, co-principal investigator of the BRII-196/BRII-198 ACTIV-2 study and of Weill Cornell Medical College, USA, also said, "We are pleased to announce the Phase 3 interim results for ACTIV-2. The results demonstrate a significant reduction in hospitalization or death endpoints in mild non-hospitalization of COVID-19 patients treated with BRII-196/BRII-198. The devastating recurrence of COVID-19 cases over the past few months has impressed upon us the urgent need for relevant treatment options to tackle this disease."

Since the outbreak of Coronavirus Pandemic (COVID-19) in early 2020, Brii Biosciences has partnered with Tsinghua University and Shenzhen Third People's Hospital to establish Tenson Huachuang to co-develop BRII-196 and BRII-198 New Coronary Neutralising Antibodies. BRII-196 and BRII-198 are a collaboration between Brii Biosciences and Tsinghua University and Shenzhen Third People's Hospital to develop new coronary pneumonia (COVID-19) antibodies from the blood of patients with neo-coronary pneumonia (COVID-19) during rehabilitation. This antibody was genetically modified by Brii Biosciences 's research team, applying genetic engineering techniques to reduce the risk of antibody-mediated dependent potentiation, increase its blood concentration into the lungs and extend the drug half-life to at least 60 days for a longer-lasting therapeutic effect. The non-overlapping epitope-binding regions of both antibodies provide highly neutralising activity against SARS-CoV-2 virus and therefore have anti-neo-coronavirus capability. Notably, the Phase II clinical trial of the BRII-196/BRII-198 combination therapy in China (NCT04787211) is being led by Academician Zhong Nanshan, member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Director of the National Clinical Medical Research Centre for Respiratory Diseases at the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University.

In addition to the clinical trial, in response to the emergence of new COVID-19 infections caused by the Delta variant in China since the second half of the year, Brii Biosciences has collaborated with local government departments and hospitals to donate BRII-196/BRII-198 to Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Ruili, Kunming, Nanjing, Yangzhou, Zhangjiajie and Zhengzhou on a pro bono basis, for clinical treatment. Since June 2021, Brii Biosciences has provided a total of over 2,300 copies of BRII-196/BRII-198 Neoconjugate antibodies to relevant authorities and hospitals in various regions, supporting 18 hospitals in 17 regions to carry out life-saving treatment for patients.

As of 5 November, nearly 700 patients have received clinical treatment with the BRII-196/BRII-198 combination therapy, including patients with mild, common, severe and critical illnesses, with the oldest patient receiving the drug being 92 years old. The performance of the BRII-196/BRII-198 combination therapy in the life-saving work has now been well received by the clinical expert team and the medical team. John Franklin Enders was born on February 10, 1897. He was an American biomedical scientist and Nobel Laureate. Enders has been called "The Father of Modern Vaccines."

Enders was born in West Hartford, Connecticut. His father, John Ostrom Enders, was CEO of the Hartford National Bank and left him a fortune of $19 million upon his death. He attended the Noah Webster School in Hartford, and St. Paul's School in Concord, New Hampshire. After attending Yale University a short time, he joined the United States Army Air Corps in 1918 as a flight instructor and a lieutenant.

After returning from World War I, he graduated from Yale, where he was a member of Scroll and Key as well as Delta Kappa Epsilon. He went into real estate in 1922, and tried several careers before choosing the biomedical field with a focus on infectious diseases, gaining a Ph.D. at Harvard in 1930. He later joined the faculty at Children's Hospital Boston.

Enders died in 1985 in Waterford, Connecticut, aged 88, holding honorary doctoral degrees from 13 universities. His wife died in 2000.

In 1949, Enders, Thomas Huckle Weller, and Frederick Chapman Robbins reported successful in vitro culture of an animal virus—poliovirus. The three received the 1954 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine "for their discovery of the ability of polioviruses to grow in cultures of various types of tissue".

Meanwhile, Jonas Salk applied the Enders-Weller-Robbins technique to produce large quantities of poliovirus, and then developed a polio vaccine in 1952. Upon the 1954 polio vaccine field trial, whose success Salk announced on the radio, Salk became a public hero but failed to credit the many other researchers that his effort rode upon, and was somewhat shunned by America's scientific establishment.

In 1954, Enders and Peebles isolated measlesvirus from an 11-year-old boy, David Edmonston. Disappointed by polio vaccine's development and involvement in some cases of polio and death—what Enders attributed to Salk's technique—Enders began development of measles vaccine. In October 1960, an Enders team began trials on 1,500 mentally retarded children in New York City and on 4,000 children in Nigeria.

On September 17, 1961, The New York Times announced the measles vaccine effective. Refusing credit for only himself, Enders stressed the collaborative nature of the effort. In 1963, Pfizer introduced a deactivated measles vaccine, and Merck & Co introduced an attenuated measles vaccine.

Setting that the prologue explains but that’s not written yet so: Several decades ago, on this new earth, three temples appeared overnight: The Freelancer Temple, the Red Temple, and the Blue Temple. The UNSC has only managed to get inside of the Freelancer Temple, where they found relics and documents (suits and weapons and artifacts) from a time that is clearly not this one. The Red and Blue Temples remain unbreached. Experts speculate that the presences of certain people are required to enter. What’s inside is a complete mystery.

Not long after the appearance of these temples, aliens initiated their first contact with humans because of their interest in these temples. By the time our story starts, the human-alien relations are… not great. When the temples appeared, many (many) people started to “remember” the old timeline. It’s questioned as a mass hallucination at first, but when the UNSC started an official investigation they found too many consistent details for this to be anything other than some sort of mass reincarnation event. And a “Great War” with the aliens is a disturbing constant in the memories of these “reincarnates”.

Fortunately for Earth, they’ve got a division of reincarnated super soldiers – the “Freelancers” – whose prowess is foretold in the temples. Unfortunately for Earth, the temples also tell of those who fell these warriors – known only as “The Reds and Blues” – and they’re coming back, too.

The blonde laughed and took a deep sip of her appletini. This close up, it was clear that her nose had broken and healed a few times. Church entertained the hope that she was either drunk enough to think Tucker was a good pick or drunk enough to miss when she slugged him.

"Church, these jokes are super lame," Tucker muttered under his breath.

Come on, they're not that bad, he scrolled across Tucker's HUD. Try another one.

"Knock knock," repeated Tucker.

"Who's there?" the blonde answered enthusiastically.

"Armor."

"Armor who?"

"Are more of your friends coming, 'cause I like having you all to myself."

That got another laugh.

See? She digs it.

Tucker sat forward, the sulk falling out of his posture. "Knock knock," he said.

Wait, I don't have the next one ready, texted Church.

"Who's there?"

"Chief."

Tucker, do not use your own material.

"Chief who?"

TUCKER, NO!

"Chee fucking better be your sister or something because I do not do threesomes with strangers."

The appletini glass fell out of her hand.

"Two point four seconds until he lands."

An arc of green tracer light sleeked from the blond woman's perfectly chambered hip, knee and ankle to her foot against Tucker's solar plexus. "Judging from the angle at which she is applying force, Captain Tucker will land on his knees or buttocks."

"If he swings his arms like this," mimed Theta, "he can avoid crashing into the salad bar."

"Thank you, Theta. I'll upload it to his HUD."

Delta looked meaningfully at Gamma.

"It is not my fault that the human does not follow instructions," said Gamma.

"This outcome was predictable given our collective memory of Captain Tucker's behavior."

"You think you can do better?" asked Gamma.

Delta looked at Epsilon.

"I don't know, D. There's nothing less logical than what Tucker has instead of a thought process."

Time lurched forward. Tucker managed to only wing the salad bar before landing heavily on one knee. He skidded a good five feet across the dance floor, arms in the air like a figure skater. "Uh, I meant to do that. Thank you, judges!" he yelled.

Epsilon looked back to Delta. "Fine. Whatever clears this debt so that I never have to do this again."

"Excellent. The key is to identify techniques that have worked for Captain Tucker in the past."

"Delta, Tucker's stories are so out there that I can't tell you if any of the crap he says really works. The only chick I know for sure he hooked up with is Sister, and she did not have high standards."

"Neither does Tucker," offered Theta.

"What so we just ID the biggest skank in the place and hope that Tucker recognizes a female of his own species?"

"A continuation on an existing trend."

Tucker surreptitiously picked a leaf of iceberg lettuce off his chest guard and sidled up to a leggy figure in medical armor.

"Okay. Let's try it." Church spread his hands as if picturing the entire club. "Who looks like they have low standards and a high tolerance for lame pick-up lines?"

"That one dances like a shizno in the third stage of stink heat," suggested Gamma.

"Eh, dancing style only tells you so much."

"I thought Tucker could tell what pathogens people had by the way they danced," said Theta.

"Which is why we're the ones doing bioscans," finished Epsilon.

"He should obliterate the one in the hazard suit," growled a voice.

"Omega, you're still on probation," said Epsilon. "But okay, why should Tucker have sex with her?"

"Have sex with?"

Epsilon waved a hand and Omega's image dissolved.

"What about her? She painted a little arrow on her belly. See? It even lights up."

"And it's pointing down. Good spot, Theta."

Delta appeared beside them. "That symbol might signify her allegiance with restoration movement, a group of humans aggressively committed to the repair and recolonization of all human territories destroyed by the Covenant. Their symbol is a downward-facing arrow in those colors."

"So she's either Tucker's type or a political activist," Epsilon mused.

"I suggest we collect further information."

"Good idea," said Epsilon as time skipped forward.

"WOHOOO!" yelled the arrow lady. "WHO WANTS TO TERRAFORM MY VAG?"

"I guess she's both," said Theta.

"A conclusion should always be reevaluated in the face of additional data," agreed Delta.

"Tucker," called Epsilon, "I think I found one!"

"How did you mess that up?" he demanded.

"What? She asked what I thought about glass, and I said we were better off with polymer. You do not want that trip to the emergency room. I take care of my lady."

"No, glassing, like when the Covenant smokes a planet."

"She didn't say that."

"It's been a major fact of human existence for like twenty years."

Tucker shrugged.

"It's how the war started. The one we were fighting."

"I don't look back. It distracts from the now." Just then, a comely ODST walked by, and Tucker's vertebrae popped as he twisted his head over his shoulder. "Baby, I hate to see you leave, but I'd love to take your ass and—"

"Tucker!" snapped Epsilon. "I need you to focus. Women don't actually like it when you catcall about their asses."

"What the hell do you know about what women like?"

"From Tex. Back when we were together, she'd pin me down and bitch in my ear for hours about assholes who'd yell that shit when she was trying to train."

Tucker folded his arms and cocked his head to one side.

"What?" asked Epsilon.

"When you say you and Tex were 'together...'" he air-quoted.

"Hey! Just because most of our relationship took place in flash-cloned memories from a human guy obsessed with an unobtainable warrior woman distorted through the filter of his megalomaniacal regrets and the original AI's attempt to stitch those memories into something that could pass for sanity doesn't mean that what Tex and I had wasn't real."

"Pretty sure it does."

"Fine. It doesn't mean I'm not right."

"Whatever." Tucker perked up as a new cluster of women in medical gear made it past the velvet rope. "Hey sweet cheeks!" he called. "Are you rated for gravity hammers? Because I think you should see my 7-wood!""

Epsilon sighed. "Well guys?"

Theta raised his hand. "I think I have an idea."

Defenders of Aura - A Battle Century G Campaign Diary

Session 8 After sitting in quarantine for a couple of hours, we're given the okay by command. We're taken into a briefing room where we are met by a human scientist and the naul mage we met on the ship last session. Spectre notes that the scientist seems familiar. This man (whose name I have forgotten, I'm afraid) worked with Spectre's father, and looked after Spectre when he was a child. He tells us that our memories were altered by the same alien race that have driven the cultists mad; the Deitus. Something about them, either their technology or some innate power, can confuse or hypnotise other races. The current theory is that this is some kind of defence mechanism for them. Sinclair notes that his memories were also altered, suggesting these aliens must have knowledge of human technology. The naul (whose name I have also forgotten) notes that those who are exposed to the alien mind control for extended periods of time tend to become... unhinged. Hearing voices, for example. The Ebon Order were tasked with fighting the Deitus, so that explains their behaviour. Fiona questions why anyone is trying to fight them when they mostly seem to want to be left alone and never leave dark space. The fact they claim to be gods and are screwing with the minds of their cultists for some unknown purpose seems to be a good enough reason. There's something else though. Whatever the new biofuel is, it seems to block the mind control effects. It's noted that Adam Westfield knew of this ability and suggested that part of his plan to build weapons with this fuel was to counter the Deitus. Nina Burgess arrives to talk to us about something different. We never had an official leader for our team chosen. Nina reveals to us that the one she has chosen is... Ax. It makes sense, as a rock star he has the charisma for the job, though Fiona definitely feels like it should be her, even though she doesn't really seem to want it. We congratulate Ax on his promotion and then finish our meeting and are told that we have earned ourselves some much needed R&R. Skip to five months later... Many nauls have come to Aura to study our culture and share their technology. This has resulted in great scientific advancements over these short months, several of which have been integrated into our mechs. Ax's new mech, Riggnarok 2.0, is much the same as the old one, slow but steady, but with a new biofuel reactor powering an upgraded laser sniper rifle. Fiona's mech, Caliburn, is designed with heavy defence and shear stopping power in mind, with advanced armour, a powerful resonance cannon, and her now iconic anti-warship sword. Spectre's new mech, as yet unnamed, is now focusing on the new beam technology that we originally saw in Zack Adanai's mech, with a variety of settings for every occasion. The Beast of Burden, Sinclair's mech, has integrated naul techno-organic systems, boosting it's overall abilities and allowing the use of new chameleon plate armour for a stealthy defence. Ironically, this means that Beast of Burden is now technically more alive than its pilot. Finally, Juyon's Zweilander has had some minor tweaks, but Juyon's training has unlocked new techniques to be used in combat, making his fighting style that much more threatening. (On the off-chance that anyone wants a more rules-oriented run down, you only have to ask, as I love talking about this system. :P) Sinclair himself has also been upgraded, with the biofuel now running through his body as a power source. In addition to blocking the alien effects around him, he has unlocked the ability to use some of the naul magic, specifically the wormhole technology. Oh yes. Spectre is running maintenance on his mech when Eric approaches him with a message... from his father. The pair quickly find a video screen to watch it on. The following is paraphrased from memory: Victor: Hello my son. I hope you are well and that you are doing well in your studies. I'm sure you are worried about me, but I am fine. I have learned so much here and my work is very important, I'm sure you can understand. I would very much like for you to visit me. Perhaps we can work together. Attached are co-ordinates to my location. I love you, son. Spectre notes that this is very odd, as the "studies" Victor mentioned finished years ago, suggesting this message is very old. He makes notes of the co-ordinates, but he and Eric decide not to tell anyone just yet. Meanwhile, Fiona is running an investigation into the origins of the biofuel and its connection to the Sendai corporation, the company that ran her family out of business. Something strange turns up; the biofuel plant we attacked back in session 5 has been active recently, despite supposedly being shut down. Desperate for more information, she gets in contact with Zack Adanai, who is now leader of new mech team, Epsilon Team. Zack's father is a bigwig in the Sendai corporation so if anyone knows if they're involved, it's him. Fiona absolutely hates Zack, but she swallows her pride for the sake of the investigation. Zack confirms that ships have been going to the plant, though he doesn't know much more. Fiona decides to round up Delta Team to check this place out. On our way there we get an emergency transmission from Nina: return to base immediately. A fleet of ships have been detected entering the solar system on its way to Aura. There's no information on what this fleet is, even whether it's human or alien, so the military is on full alert. This seems important, but we decide we still need to check out the biofuel plant before we head back. After all, last time we went against a single ship we were pretty badly trounced and there's no way the fleet will get here before we get back. We tell Nina we detected some kind of signal that might be related to the appearance of this fleet (a bluff) and she agrees that it is important enough to investigate. When we arrive, we find that the place is empty. As in literally everything has been taken and all traces of who might have done it have been wiped. As we head inside the GM makes us all roll willpower checks. We all fail. It seems like a bad sign, but we all feel... better. Stronger. More alert and even more confident. Spectre recalls that large quantities of biofuel have an energy signature that has been known to have such an effect on humans. Sinclair even seems to be affected, the biofuel in his metal veins improving his processing power. The source seems to be coming from a capped drilling hole in the centre of the base. Sinclair's sensors note large amounts of biofuel underneath and lets the team know that it would be a Bad IdeaTM to open it. The team agrees. Finding nothing else, we head back to base. Upon arrival we are told that contact has been made with the fleet. It's the African Federation and they have come from Earth, running from the Chinese who have invaded Africa as part of their world domination bid. Eeep! Oh, and the Chinese navy followed them here and are preparing to invade Aura. Double eeep! What follows next is a long and frankly circular discussion over what can be done. The presidents of Neovara, Novak, and Camelot are invited in to the war room for a meeting, along with General Gana, the African commander. I'll spare you the details as I was honestly very tired that session (as were at least two other players) but in the end we came up with an ambush plan, attacking the enemy as they come out of the local warp gate, then luring them into Deitus space to let the so-called gods take care of the problem for us. Nina tells us we have a week to prepare. Session ends. If this one seems shorter, well, I'm not gonna lie, this session dragged on a bit. That final paragraph probably took up 90 minutes of real time, so I've trimmed a lot. On the plus side, it freed us up for a large actiony session afterwards. Dead ends, fringe math and gatekeeping

A few years ago when I was doing the EverythingAbout threads I had the idea of doing one about dead areas of math but decided not to cause I realized I was ( and still am ) very ignorant mathematically and even if I wasnt planning on declaring an area of math to be dead, having a discussion in this community about that felt like not the best idea knowing the demographics.

I'll explain myself: Outside of the big fancy universities in the US, western Europe and a few other associated countries, math is not precisely the same as people focus on different things, this being because tradition or politics both internal and external. Oftentimes the research conducted at these other countries is ignorantly considered at the more prestigious universities to be old, out of fashion, outright crankery or simply dead.

This is of course wrong a lot of the time, the trends in math obey many factors, in the best cases things fall out of fashion because particular techniques and philosophies prove to be very effective in -at the time- sterile lands, but the fact that a new powerful idea takes over the mind of many mathematician does not mean the old ideas are suddenly over or replaced.

There are two examples I have in mind:

A very common idea among students -at least- is that point-set topology is just a boring prereq to get to the good stuff which is either different kinds of geometry or to jump to algebraic topology. This is wrong in my point of view, topology has found a place among set theorists because of the combinatorial mess the theory provides, or so is my understanding.

Plane geometry on the other hand has suffered from being old as old comes, and then a few revolutionary ideas inbetween kinda made it as nothing else but a highschool class. There are reasons to consider it a dead area, on the one hand Hilbert showed that it was shaky to say the least, analytical methods are inherently more powerful and it had been laregely encoded into a problem we do know how to solve, in theory. However this doesnt take away that as a thing on its own it is legit mathematics and it has the right to continue to be thought about.

The idea of nonstandard analysis seem to be treated among students as nothing but a curiosity, a neat thing that solves nothing we dont already know how to solve using epsilon-delta methods. This is as far as my 'expertise' goes so I will just refer to the counter-criticism in this paper https://arxiv.org/abs/1211.0244 and others referenced therein.

I personally grew up mathematically at a place that trated a somewhat popular math idea in a way that was not the most popular one, and the focus was geared towards different goals than what most people in the world cared for when thinking about this ideas. It was interesting when I eventually got involved in the mainstream point of view and rediscovered all these ideas.

So, Id love to hear about your opinions on this, specially if you are coming from an unusual background and you study things that are geographically localized in some unusual/unsuspeted places.

Back in 2012 when Valerie Shimonis graduated from Marywood University with her BFA Design degree in Photography, little did she know that in a few short years she’d be starting her own business as a professional Personal Brand Photographer. What is a personal brand photographer? Read more below discover what it means as you learn about Valerie’s successful career in photography.

Current Occupation: Owner/Photographer at Photography by Valerie Shimonis LLC, where I’ve worked for the past 8 months.

What was your favorite part about studying art at Marywood? I loved the variety of arts and courses that I was able to discover and learn Marywood, as a liberal arts college, kind of requires a great deal from it’s students, and that is definitely a good thing. In having to study other fields and getting immersed in other topics, it made me appreciative of so much and so many people. I still reflect on all those “random” classes today and how they actually became relevant to things in my life as a whole. I think everyone should be pushed to learn new skills they would have never even considered themselves.

How did your art education at Marywood help your career? Learning from the basics and fundamentals in art helped me to easier grasp more complex ideas and techniques. If I had not had the foundation I learned from Marywood, it definitely would have been harder to comprehend the whys and hows of many new ideas I was introduced to after graduating and in my field. In the BFA Photography program, students are taught from books and analogue first. Learning from these areas initially made going digital and understanding digital SO much easier. Beyond that, it made me more receptive to other people’s ideas, and not just other artists. Looking at things from various perspectives is invaluable.

Did your career path match your vision of a career path? What’s different? Yes and No. I’ll be honest, I didn’t want to own my own business back in the day. I wanted to be a documentary photographer in the way that photojournalists work for and with popular publications (i.e National Geographic, Time, etc.). So that is the No. How is it a Yes? I am still doing documentary work, just in my own way and on my own terms. With Personal Branding Photography, the niche I specialize in, I am still documenting the lives of people and their true emotions and being, but in a commercial manner. I am still able to capture essence, (and I don’t have to leave my family behind to do so!). It’s been super fulfilling so far, and I can’t wait to keep going!

What is your favorite thing about your job? With my specialty, I get to photograph all “genres” of photography, if you will. I am not JUST a portrait, family, commercial, or product photographer. Under Personal Branding I tell stories through images. And all those stories mentioned above come into play. Oh you’re a Mommy Blogger who want to connect with your audience? Great, let’s do a family session with the kiddos. A Cake decorator? Perfect, I will get you in your element creating your masterpieces and extend the story with some product photos! You’re a musician who needs promo images for a tour? Let’s rock out a portrait session and get some event photography of a concert in too! I get to do it all without compromising and, again, on my own terms. Who wouldn’t love that??

What is your favorite software program for design and why? I use Adobe Bridge for management and to correct in ACR (Adobe Camera Raw). I make all my other fine edits in Photoshop. (Typical photographer, haha) These are the only 2 programs I need to get my final products. As a side note, I absolutely love Illustrator, but for what I need to do currently, it doesn’t play a part in my workflow.

Anything else you’d like to share? My business is new, but I have been doing portrait and wedding work for ten years now, since right before I became a Marywood undergrad. It has taken me that long to find my true path. So my message for people is: “Don’t give up. Don’t stop chasing your dream and looking for what you are meant to be doing.” I feel so much pride in what I am doing now and how I am now able to help other entrepreneurs and business owners on their own journeys.

Any advice for current art students at Marywood? Appreciate your instructors. Be open-minded, but also be practical. Take business classes—accounting, bookkeeping, marketing, public speaking, all of the above. Finally, do not underestimate the power of relationship building (aka the anxiety-inducing word…Networking!).
